The image and the medium that carries the image

(This is the English summary of the last article in Japanese)

It is hard to separate each other the image and the medium that carries the image.

However, virtual images in optics such as the mirror image and the magnifier image can be easily identified as pure images separated from the media.

There is no significant difference in reality between the virtual image and the image of the naked eye. If you are short sighted, the virtual image of eyeglasses can be clearer than the image of the naked eye.

The image of the photography, the cinema, videos, etc is derived from the real image in optics.

There is no difference in reality between the real image and the virtual image because the real image such as the image of the telescope becomes the true image only after you see it and when you see it, the real image is no more than the set of points the light passes and you are only seeing the image of the image source through the lenses. This situation is identical to seeing the virtual image.

So there is no difference in reality between the real image and the virtual image.

Imageries such as photo prints, video screens and the like are derived from the real image but are not the real image themselves. Those imageries are image sources themselves as well as are the carriers of the original real image

To see imageries such as photo prints is to see two different images, of which one is the original real image and the other is the image of the medium. And for the original real image, the other functions as the noise.

Therefore, the image of the medium itself that carries the original real image functions as a noise to the original real image.

This noise of the medium can be reduced optically.
